Parents’ Group

The KCYJ parents’ group was designed by Leon Brady to foster communication and support between the KCYJ staff, parents and students.  The group meets at 10:00 am the 2nd Saturday of each month in the KCYJ music office.

Parent group volunteers assist the staff in several key areas:

Student Recruitment – Provide support for KCYJ by helping Mr. Brady and staff contact area school band instructors. Bring interested students and their parents to rehearsals and performances to experience first-hand what KCYJ is al about fundraising, performance assistance and social activities.

Fund Raising – The Parents Group sponsors a variety of fund-raising activities throughout the year to raise funds to make special purchases such as t-shirts and to support social activities.

Performance Support – Assist in setting up for concert performances, transporting equipment and other on-site logistics.

Social Activities — The KCYJ Parents Group sponsors at least two social activities during the year: a spring picnic and a year-end bowling party. We are very open to your new ideas for other activities for students and parents to get together outside of rehearsals and performances to socialize and get to know each other better.
