Chris Burnett

Woodwind Instructor

Woodwinds instructor and Kansas native, Chris Burnett, brings his distinguished 30 year career as an alto saxophonist, composer, recording artist to the KC Youth Jazz program.

At the age of 18, Mr. Burnett began an honorable 22-year active-duty military career when he was selected for musical service as a performing artist with the US Army Bands Career Program, where he performed and toured with several noteworthy professional US military band organizations throughout the US and overseas.

Having had the benefit of caring and compassionate music education as a young man, Chris has made a strong commitment to giving back through community service and artist outreach activities. From his time as a performing member of the Faculty Jazz Ensemble of the Armed Forces School of Music and his years of service as an IAJE artist/clinician, to directing the jazz ensembles at the University of Missouri Rolla and the NATO Jazz Ensemble, he has made a significant contribution to the national jazz landscape.

Since 2001, Mr. Burnett has led the Chris Burnett Quartet, performing at concerts and jazz festivals throughout the U.S. And, as both a performing artist and composer, critics and fans agree, Mr. Burnett is an artist with diverse talents and an incomparable range.

In December 2007, Mr. Burnett co-founded Artists Recording Collective – an American label brand that serves as a dynamic and multi-dimensional platform to present the works and services of a select roster of artists.
